What is Riva Protect?
Riva Protect is a protective, fluoride-releasing coating that bonds to the surface of your tooth to help strengthen and protect areas that are more vulnerable to decay or sensitivity.
Why has it been recommended?
Your dental hygienist may recommend Riva Protect if you have:
- Deep grooves that are difficult to clean
- Active orthodontic treatment (braces)
- Dry mouth
- An increased risk of developing cavities

Riva Protect™ Aftercare
Your Riva Protect treatment is complete.
To help protect the material while it fully sets:
- Avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes.
- Eat a soft diet for the next 48 hours and avoid chewing hard or sticky foods on the treated teeth whenever possible.
- Resume normal brushing and flossing, but brush the treated area gently for the first 48 hours.
- Continue using fluoride toothpaste as recommended.
- Attend your regular dental hygiene visits so we can monitor the treated area.
